Life On Rhodes
It’s been just over three weeks since my parents moved to Rhodes in Greece, and they seem to have settled down nicely into the permanent holiday attitude we expected them to take.
Before they moved I had initially inherited most of their expensive worldly possessions including a TV, sofa, chest of drawers, bedside drawers, lamps, towels and cutlery, as well as a futon I managed to claim from my grandparents in Bournemouth. They also gave me a fridge, freezer and washing machine which I intended to use at first, but ended up finding a flat that already provided white goods, so I made the decision to sell them.
Using my trustworthy Post Office Phonecard I have been phoning my parents on their land line in their home for just 2p/min, which is a damn sight more worthwhile than the 19p/min Virgin Media charge for calls to Greece. They tell me it’s over 44°C over there in the day time… like I want to hear how well their weather is during the UK’s monsoon season!
