Lindsay’s Birthday Bash
I feel I should write a post about this weekend’s plethora of events but I’m not sure where to start. So much has happened in one weekend compared to my usual bland excuses for time consumption (well, in comparison!)
The main birthday events happened on Saturday – one day earlier than Lindsay’s actual birthday of the 1st of July – and begin with an adrenaline-packed trek through Sherwood forest on quad bikes. Unfortunately for Amanda, this wasn’t as fun as it was for the rest of us – she rolled her quad bike over herself when trying to go around a corner and up a hill, injuring her back in the process. The only good side of this was that her accident made the rest of us extra cautious and there were no more incidents after that, making this event an overall exciting and thrilling experience! I would recommend it to anyone…!
Once the adrenaline had died down, Saturday evening begin quite early. The restaurant was booked for 6:30 (seating at 7) at The Fat Cat Café Bar in the city centre on a “cut down menu”, which I think was due to Lindsay only booking the restaurant on Thursday, and so the original venue of Iguanas was too overbooked for us by then. Altogether there were 17 of us, mostly made up of Lindsay’s old friends from University or earlier, accompanied by the usual gathering from Nottingham.
The meal was great, and took us to around 9:30 to finish and make our way up to Tonic just a few doors down. We stayed in there for a few hours, being dripped on through the ceiling and drinking quite a bit more.
On Sunday we took it easy and went to the quiz at The Grosvenor on Mansfield Road, coming second for 4 free pints of beer. I think we would have been first if it weren’t for the 16 year old kids with mobile phones getting 2 points more than us… honestly I’m not bitter towards them
