Since I don’t play World of Warcraft any more, and the page was so out of date it made no sense or relevance to the topic anyway, I’ve decided to remove it from the site.

I know there are still a lot of hits to the page dispite the fact that it was out of date and incorrect, and there may be some people who still use the figures to project base damage between the two abilities, but I thought it wasn’t fair on the community to keep it here.

If you have a dire need to use the formulas that were previously on the page, send me a message or post a comment and I’ll give you access to the page through a registered account.

Season 4 Date Announced

There was a very sneaky announcement last week on the date of the next arena season within World of Warcraft, something which has been long anticipated since patch 2.4 first included details of items available for the next season. For weeks now, people have been updating Wowhead with the latest item details that are slated to be the next season’s arena points gear, and the complementary honor gear from honor vendors to be at the same item level.

As a side note, I was listening to the Blizzcast last week that discussed some stuff about WotLK and the new sets that are to be introduced. Finally, they’ve realised that different people want different looks:

Something that I am excited to talk about is that the PvP armor will be different from the PvE armor entirely in looks and colors this time.

With only 34K Honor sitting on my character, and a list totalling to more than 120K Honor of things I need to buy, I’m probably going to lose a bit of sleep until the 26th (Europe patch day)!

Season 2 goes to Honor vendors

Since I’d not written about World of Warcraft for a while, I thought I would make a fill-in post about the next arena season changes to hit the game.

It’s now nearly 4 months after the Gladiator gear was moved from arena vendors to honor vendors, which coincided with the release of season 3, and now Blizzard have announced that season 4 will do the same, bringing Merciless Gladiator gear to those very same vendors. The start date of season 4 is expected to be just after the release of the 2.4 patch.

Team Sellers: Take That!

I’ve just noticed the post about qualifications for being eligible for the Season 2 rewards. These qualification requirements mean that highly ranked teams that have been sold for the fact that they are highly ranked won’t receive any season 2 rewards when the season comes to a close.

Take the second item in that post: “The team must have at least one player that has played in 20% or more of the total games for that team”. When a team is sold off or transferred to a completely new set of players, none of the players would ever meet this requirement until they play at least 25% more of the current team’s number of games played. So a team with 1000 games played would need a player to get through 250 games before the season closes to qualify. Since some teams have thousands of games played, I very much doubt a lot of these teams in question will meet the requirements, and hope that none ever will.

Well done Blizzard! Finally, a way to stop these gold/item/team buyers from getting what they wanted

So in my continued hunt to find information on the next World of Warcraft patch (2.3, most known for the new dungeon Zul’Aman). There’s a post up about the new Season 3 changes which details the dates we’ve all been waiting for about the new patch and the start of Season 3. Now remember that season 3 marks the end of season 2, which means as soon as season 3 is released, we’ll be able to buy season 1 gear for honour. As can be seen from the post, this probably won’t be when the patch is released but rather when the season ends. For quick reference: November the 13th/14th will be the patch date. November the 20th/21st will be the start of Season 3.

Season 1 Gladiator’s Gear, Patch 2.3

With the impending start of the third season of arena battles in World of Warcraft, the new patch will introduce the first season Gladiator’s set items and weapons as honour-purchasable items from vendors by each faction.

I’m not sure how accurate this is, but here’s the expected price list for each set item:

Chest: 14,500 honour and 30 Arathi Basin marks of honour
Gauntlets: 10,500 honour and 20 Alterac Valley marks of honour
Helm: 14,500 honour and 30 Alterac Valley marks of honour
Leggings: 14,500 honour and 30 Warsong Gulch marks of honour
Shoulders: 11,250 honour and 20 Arathi Basin marks of honour

This list makes it 65,250 for the full 5 piece set. The guys over at elitist jerks also claim 65,250 for the full set on their Season 3 consolidated list, so its authenticity is a little more respectable.

Healing Way

With critical heals of over 6K, I can now solo heal the level 70 dungeons (well, except for the first boss in Crypts ) thanks to my re-specialisation to the restoration tree. I even get more damage (!!!) than I did as elemental, albeit with slightly smaller critical hits and the absence of the Totem of Wrath.

Nuf and myself are looking to join a guild (remember, Twilight’s Hammer) and since you get a restoration shaman with a feral tanking druid, it’s a good deal for most guilds. Until we find the perfect guild, however, we’ll stick to questing for our epic flying mounts and grinding instances for heroic keys.

Quick Update

Firstly my apologies for not keeping this blog up-to-date. I’ve moved flats since my last post to a newly decorated first floor maisonette in Carrington (Nottingham).

Things on WoW with my shaman are looking better (I’m almost out of greens!) thanks to the dedication myself and Ross have been putting into improving our game status. We’re not yet at the stage to use epic flying mounts, which means we can’t do the quests from the Netherwing available to people with 300 riding skill, which would ironically earn us a lot of money to buy the 300 riding skill

I’ve ordered (and has already arrived) an M3 DS Simply from MrModChips for my DS. This little tool is designed for watching moves and listening to MP3s on your DS using a microSD card, but can also (as an added bonus, of course) act as a PassKey and loader for DS game ROMs.
The back of the box has some truly noteworthy Engrish, which I will take a picture of later.

I’m still waiting on the microSD card from Crucial, which I ordered and was despatched on Friday the 15th and is still not here! Usually Crucial are good at this but I’m not impressed at the speed of this particular delivery

Enjoying the view

I got to level 70 on Sunday afternoon, and made use of the evening time flying around on my [Snowy Gryphon]. I know I kind-of followed the masses when I chose which one to get, but I figured that I’d be replacing it (hopefully) pretty soon with a 280% (a.k.a ‘very fast’) mount (for example).

I’m going to see the Nottingham Panthers play again tonight against the Basingstoke Bison, who are currently below the Panthers in the league so it’s probably going to be more of a ‘score then defend’ match. Never-the-less, it should be good.
